    This started as a senior project but I worked so well with the Director that we continued to work together, even after graduation, to help start up her non-profit organization.

    Limited Edition DVD Collector's Box Set and a Commemorative Poster.

    The Box Set includes a DVD, book with book jacket, and poster. With this Box Set, I was to design, layout, and print and bound a 112 page book documenting the history of my specific subject, Chico Mendes. Chico Mendes grew up in Brazil as a rubber tapper and died as a rainforest martyr.

    Description:

    With the Dutchman Movie Poster project, we each were supposed express graphically our feelings and interpretation of the 1967 movie, Dutchman. We were to translate the characters, metaphors, foreshadowing, gender/sexual/racial dynamics, setting, context, and the like, typographically. All elements of the movie, story, and characters were also to be taken into consideration. The setting and location, cinematography, and moment in history were also to be well thought-out. The two main characters, Clay and Lula, and their space and relationship were used as a compass for the design decisions.

    Description:

    Before redesigning the book covers, the story, mood, characters, situations, and settings were to be considered. The target audience of the book and how to bring the magic of the story to life through type and imagery was also to be considered. Three different book covers were to be created, capturing the essence of the story in a personal interpretation with 3 very different approaches: a conservative solution, an experimental solution, and a typographic solution. They all are to be 6" x 9" front covers, full color.

    Margo Chase is a world-renowned graphic designer and creative director. Her experimental style, complex layering, and innovative use of lettering have given her music industry acclaim, while she expanded into corporate identity, consumer packaging, movie poster campaigns, environmental graphics and interactive multimedia design.

    The project entailed creating an entire book after researching and writing about a selected designer. Then mimicing or celebrating their design in the book.

    Book Design. Incorporating my journey of photos to San Francisco International Airport with the lyrics of two songs, from the band Keane. 7x7, 110 pages.

    Descriptive Words:

    SFO: happy, sad, big, dull, culture, hope, temporary, expensive, fear, cold, grey.
    Keane: piano, English, blue, abstract, emotional, drums, deep, meaningful, rich, rock.
